2005年2月20日、スウェーデンのオーレで行なわれた女子大回転第７戦で念願のワールドカップ初優勝を飾った。１本目はニコール・ホスプ（ＡＵＴ）の２位に付けたマリア・ホセは２本目、ベストタイムをマークしての逆転優勝だった。1994年2月、自国のシエラ・ネバダで行なわれたワールドカップの滑降58位でスタートしたマリア・ホセだったが、初優勝までに11年の歳月を要した。現在29歳。これまで３位４回、２位１回と６回表彰台に上がっているが、なかなか勝たせては貰えなかった。1992年、レッヒ（ＡＵＴ）のスラロームでブランカ・フェルナンデス・オチョアが勝って以来のスペインの勝利である。
マリア・ホセはレンツェルハイド（ＳＵＩ）で行なわれた最終戦の大回転でも優勝し、2005シーズンの種目別大回転総合で３位を確保した。 |
