1999年12月19日、サン・モリッツ(SUI)の女子スーパーＧでカレン・プッツァーがワールドカップ初優勝。12月17〜19日の３日間、2003年の世界選手権の開催地であるサン・モリッツで開催された高速系３連戦は、まるで悪夢のような週末だった。トレーニングも含め５日間で20人以上の怪我人を出し、うちコステリッチら４人は病院に運ばれて今期を終了した。滑降の第２戦に勝ったペルニラ・ヴィーベリ(ＳＷＥ)は悪かった膝をさらに悪化させ目下リハビリ中である。
このサン・モリッツの最終日、スーパーＧで初優勝を上げたプッツァーは161cm、58kgと小柄な選手だが、'97年のジュニア世界選手権、スーパーＧのタイトルホルダーでもある。1978年スッド・チロル、ノバ・レバンテ出身の21歳。法学部に籍を置く大学生である。
2001年サン・アントン世界選手権では大回転で２位、コンビで３位と大活躍した。
2002/03シーズンはスーパーＧで２勝、大回転で３勝と計５勝を上げ総合２位、種目別でも大回転２位、スーパーＧ３位と大躍進を遂げた。 |
